Stacey Slack from Katie White
Stacey is an unsung hero at BMHS. While many people only get to "hear" about her work through health room closing announcements or requests from students to get tea, as an aide to her during 7th period, I have seen the nonstop service she provides for our students and staff. In theory I am supposed to signal a time for Stacey to step out of the office (run errands in the building, grab lunch, etc), but she is rarely able to leave because she is so busy. I am constantly impressed with her care for students and the skill with which she examines, diagnoses, and provides treatment quickly and efficiently, sometimes handing out cough drops while giving breathing treatments to very sick students while talking to parents, administrators, and a 911 operator. Oh, and she has to document each and every student, Tylenol, and illness, too. She is a blessing to this community and it is an honor to work alongside her, however briefly, each week.
